I just received my bike and the brakes are making a lot of noise?

Updated by Lectric eBikes

With all-new bicycles, there is a wear-in period (approximately 50-100 miles) where there will be various sounds and noises coming from different parts of the bike (including the disc brakes). This is completely normal and should go away as the bike is used.

However, if the disc brakes are excessively noisy and rub to the point where they stop the wheel within one or two rotations after you stop pedaling, then they may need to be adjusted. We recommend waiting until after the wear-in period to make your first adjustment unless the rubbing is severe.

Often when folding the bike, brake cable housing can pull out from the caliper and cause the brake to engage. Always check for proper brake tension after unfolding your Lectric eBike.

For brakes that squeal when coming to a stop, we recommend cleaning both sides of each rotor with isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag. Make sure PAS is off and always be extra careful while working around any moving parts.

To adjust your brakes, we recommend taking your bike to a reputable bike shop.

Make sure that your brakes are operating well before hopping back on the road.
